New search entity: Blinkx

There is a new search tool that will be coming out on the market called Blinkx. It sounds interesting and it looks like this will be a direction that all the search engines are looking at doing. This would be a desktop piece of software that collects data about what you use, read or view, e-mail and makes it's own algorithm based on what you look at now on your computer. It's supposedly a more personalized search and it useful to find things online or on your computer without having to be so keyword related.

Here is an article about it.

With all the coming concern about privacy issues, I'm not sure about this trend. All these search entities say that their tools with gather information but be anonymous. I'm not sure I trust this being so. They're all looking at this type of search trying to gain space on the individual's desktop. Google and Microsoft are heading in this direction too. I think it's one of those situations that just because you can do something with technology, does it mean you should? I personally will not use these kind of tools. Not that I have anything to hide, I don't. I just don't like large entities looking at what I been doing or what I'm up to. It's none of their business. I think that's the key. One of the liberating apsects of the Internet is the power it gives one individual the power to choose or freely express ideas quickly and inexpensively. It seems as soon as we have this, someone then wants to backtrack and see what we're doing.
