Microsoft new technology for growth

Microsoft has been touting that it has 3000 patents within the next year and is counting on it's technology advances to increase revenue. It's a sales pitch that Bill Gates is making whenever he talks to anyone. I think that they're trying to show that they are developing even though the next version of Windows is some time away. I think the shareholders are squawking because they see a lot of delays and Microsoft is behind both Google and Yahoo in the search arena. Here is an article that explains it all in detail.
