The trend toward digital lives
I'm disturbed by something I read regarding everything in our lives, what we read, view, messages, everything all in a PC within 5 years. That's what this article states as a trend. Indeed, the technology will be there to do this, but the question to ask is why? Do we need to create an exhaustive warehouse of information about ourselves that can be seen by anyone ultimately? I would say no. Once again, the reason we have technology is to make choices. Just as we chose automobiles over the horse and buggy, so we need to choose technology that benefits us directly. For some people, a complete archive of their life digitally is something they want. I personally don't. I believe we are heading to a point the Bible talks about, the mark. I think he chip technology will get to a place where this entire digital archive about you could be implanted.
Most thinking people should reject this notion that all this advanced tech is always good and we should go full steam ahead because it can be done. Instead, we should be asking, should we do this?
