Home Shopping Network has been doing a lot of research on its multichannel strategy between TV and the web. This is as one would expect of such a large concerned churning out a lot of products, I'm sure they're interested in how people find him and how the web interfaces with their TV sales. Surely these things complement each other and it's a great way to deliver a 1-2 punch. This is great for those type of retailers like this that are so huge that they can spend money like this. It's not the same for small to medium-size retailer who has a limited budget and it doesn't have a TV show. It's unique for them just like JCPenney has a strategy of their own too. There's never been a better time to have this type of approach. The large retail operation can benefit from both ways of doing business. Although most small businesses can't approach things the way home shopping network does, we can learn some things from what they sell, how they sell and to whom they sell. It's all part of doing good marketing research. It's interesting that while they're doing research on themselves, we can do research on them and find out a lot of things that could work for us as well. This is a great time to get a lot of free research, isn't it?
