Visitors,
not traffic for online success.
Some
companies promote traffic which isn't
necessarily the same thing as visitors.

There
are some companies out there these days that promote
more traffic to your website. Traffic can be a good
thing if it's people interested in your products and
a bad thing if it's just people who aren't even
looking for what you have to offer. Some of the
companies that promise increased website traffic are
probably telling the truth, which can also be a lie.
Let me explain. They tell the truth that they will
increase traffic but it comes from pop-ups,
automated click scripts and other ineffective and
dishonest means. The lie is there you never got what
the spirit of the offer was and that was to get more
interested people to your website. These type of
companies are out there and you know that if
something seems to good to be true, then it probably
is. Guaranteed website traffic just means that
they'll get some warm bodies but no potential
customers. Then you're out the money and you won't
be any further along in website exposure than you
were before. It's a scam.
You
should stop thinking about getting more website
traffic if it doesn't convert to sales or effective
promotion. It's better to have smaller numbers of
online visitors who actually have interest in your
offering than a larger contingent of general
searchers who couldn't care less. They may even
resent your company for coming up where it shouldn't
in the form of pop-ups, pop-unders and so forth. Are
you a person that endlessly check website traffic
statistics for improvement? That's fine if you're
getting the right kind of person or companies to
visit you online. A true visitor is someone who is
looking for a product or service that you offer.
Most interested people make requests for further
information or order online. If you're seeing an
increase in these types of transactions, then you
know what you're doing is more effective. If you
don't see an improvement in personal interest after
investing in this type of promotion, then you know
it's not working. It's not the traffic numbers, it's
the visitors with interest that should mark how well
your website traffic is doing.
There
are a couple of things you should look at to see how
effective your website traffic campaign is doing or
whether to work with someone who wants to increase
your traffic.
-
Before
investing in a website traffic building program,
make sure you see exactly how that will be
accomplished. You should be told what will be
done and not some vague promises for raw
traffic.
-
Come
up with a clear picture of who your customer is
and what they would naturally do to find you
online. Make that an anchor to larger decisions
about website traffic.
-
Understand
your website statistics completely. If you don't
know who is visiting and some of the details as
to where they're coming from, you won't be able
to make an informed decision about where to put
your investment. If you don't have a good
website statistics program, contact us for some
help.
-
Treat
website traffic the same as anyone who might
physically walk into your business. Try to learn
more about how they found you without being
overly inquisitive. This will help you to know
how to invest in the future with something that
already works.
-
Stay
away from telemarketers who promise huge
traffic. There is no easy or cheap way. Instead
employ the services of a website marketing
person who understands how to get good,
interested traffic which will convert to sales.
Remember
that just getting website traffic does not mean that
you will have more customers or champions, those you
must find with superior thought and marketing
skills. Nothing comes easy or cheap when it comes to
making your website popular. But if you're
persistent and stay focused, then you will have the
results you need for greater online success.
