Time loves a hero, it also likes your
website.
Time online is something that helps search
rankings.

There was an old song from the 1970's done by Little
Feat that still sounds as fresh today as it did back
then, "Time Loves A Hero". It's got great changes
and some cool lyrics talking about historical
perspective on things in the past. Listen to it if
you can, there is wisdom in that song plus it sounds
great. It's the same for any website that wants to
get higher rankings, it takes time and search
engines give some relevancy to sites that have been
online longer. Time likes your website.
So to some degree, you'll have to wait out the clock
and keep things going over time. You must be
patient, there is no substitute for it. Wouldn't you
agree that a search engine shouldn't give great
weight to a website that went up 2 weeks ago even if
all the information is good? They can't and the
reason why is then the search results could be
manipulated by a simple word change. That doesn't
make for good relevancy. So let time go by, be
patient, it is a virtue.
But what can you do in the meantime? Are there no
remedies for getting seen early on in your website's
development? Fortunately, there are solutions that
will get you exposure and increase the possibility
of shortening the timeline. Here are a couple of
suggestions.
One of the things you must do is while you have all
that time when your website isn't being seen too
much is to continue to make it a real source of
information for your market. You should be adding
content about your offering all the time. That way,
you're doing something instead of fretting about how
you're not getting too much traffic. It's amazing
how much better this will make you feel and will
probably shorten the time to better search results.
If your content is very good and helpful, then who
knows, you may get a good listing for some of the
things you developed early on.
The next thing is to look at doing some advertising
with Google or one of the other search engines. Of
course this costs money, but you don't have to spend
a lot of money to get the ball rolling for your
website. A little traffic brought in by thoughtful
ad copy can make a difference in direct response and
the possibility of more free traffic down the road.
Don't despair. In our world of instant
communications, e-mail and get it done now, it can
be discouraging to see your website languish in
obscurity. Do the things you can do, and wait for
your time! This generation more than any other in
recent times needs to learn what our grandparents
knew, some things only come with time and patience.
Search engines love websites that have been around
for a while, keep that in mind when launching
anything new or making any drastic changes.
