Paid search will be on the rise.

According to Jupiter research andlisted in this article, paid search is going to continue to grow in the future. They estimate by 2009 that paid search will have revenues of $5.5 billion dollars. It's not surprising that this is going to continue as people are starting to see results that benefit them.

I wonder how the traditional advertising model will be in the future. It's not going to look like anything today regarding the mix of ad dollars going to certain resources. In the past, people always thought about newspaper advertising, but with declining subscriptions it becomes less inviting. In a way, newspapers were the dominant information source of their day, not unlike the Internet today. As a result, they need to rethink their whole strategy in regards to customers advertising needs. There's probably never been a time as confusing as this when it comes to how to spend advertising money.

The bottom line is that paid search is becoming more and more a force to be reckoned with. It produces results for less cost than traditional advertising. That alone is the reason why more companies are looking at it as an alternative to traditional print and media advertising. Not only that, there is an immediacy and the ability to change things easily which makes it advantageous for many businesses.
