Google Maps on the horizon.
Google is coming else with their version of something like MapQuest which is Google maps. It's still in the experimental stage but reflects the companies need to be a one-stop search place. There are many good mapping software tools out there and one of the best ones I found was map24.com. I like this one because it adds several dimensions. You can zoom in and out easily and get a big picture of what you're looking at much better than the other ones that I've seen. It's a Java application until some people may not like that is much. But it works good. I'm sure the Google map project will also have some nice features but probably will be more of the same. I'm wondering if they're going to be putting into this software some of that technology they just bought which will actually show satellite pictures of the address also.
It's great to be able to find quickly an address or a location or perhaps to find a restaurant or hotel. These are just really great tools for us to use and for right now it's free. There's never been a time when it's been easier to find what you're looking for. What I'm curious about is how some of this technology will make it more and more difficult to stay hidden. There seems to be no let up in the lack of privacy in our digital world. I don't think this is a big deal, but it's just part of the total picture.
