Browster, now I have an answer for you.

I mentioned in a previous posting about Browster, which is a new little software application that can preview web pages from search results. It's a handy little tool that works with Google and with Yahoo. It might work with others too, but for right now it's optimized for those two according to their web site. Browster is like a Internet Explorer plug-in which gives you a small little icon to the left of the search results and when you mouse over it you get a preview page of what that link is without clicking on it. I was mistaken yesterday when I mentioned that this would work with paid ads, where you could mouse over on those and get a preview. That's totally wrong, the paid ads at this point are not affected by this at all yet.

Here is a screenshot of what you see on the search results page. Notice the little icon to the left of the search results themselves:

What you find is that the preview is fast and works well if you're trying to just get through web pages very quickly on the search results page. Of course, there are probably better ways than just mousing over if you're trying to look for answers quick. You might want to try one of the search engines that uses clustering technology which is a way of categorizing search results into groupings that would deliver more relevant results.

But for those of us who like to look at all the different search results and want to get through them quickly, then Browster may be an option for us. I don't think that this is going to set the world on fire at this point, but it can make Web surfing a little bit quicker getting through a list of results. It's worth a download and it's free so why not try it?
