I came across this good article wiith an overview of how search engines work. It's from the WLKY website, a TV website. It's one of the best articles I've seen that's written in plain english. I love finding explanations that make some hard concepts easy to understand. It has some good information and I'm going to keep it as a good talk when people I know want to know more about search technology.

There is so much to know regarding how search engines work, behave and spit out results, especially for those of us who live and die on the results that are found. This kind of an article is really a starting point for a good search campaign. What I mean is, before I start a conversation with a potential client, this mutual basic understanding goes a long way to being productive. I believe one of the problems with doing search marketing is that the client doesn't know enough about the whole search thing to start with. It's hard to make an informed decision when you don't have the most basic understanding of how search engines work.
